Trees Are Pets
There are Arborists out there that still have a difficult time understanding tree health, so for the average homeowner, it can be mind boggling. I have mentioned in previous articles that when thinking about your trees, please understand that they are living organisms. Too many times they are treated as ornaments (objects). When you consider them as living organisms, then that is when you start treating them as such. While trees are different than mammals or birds, etc. they still have needs to sustaining life…..to survive.
Arborists that specialize in tree health treat trees more like pets. They care for them by feeding, irrigating and pruning (grooming) them. In accordance with best practices, a good veterinarian would recommend providing clean water to your dogs or cats, feeding them a good food (preferable free from fillers) and keeping them clean and free of pests. There is not much of a difference for trees with one huge exception. Trees will live much longer and increase the value of your real estate! Value that can be passed on to the next homeowner.
The tricky part? Finding the right Arborist. In the State of Texas anyone who has performed tree work for one year, owns a chain saw and pick-up truck can call themselves an Arborist. At Advanced Tree & Shrub Care, Inc. we are staffed by Certified Arborists, a Board Certified Master Arborist and Registered Consulting Arborist, with years of experience, training and continued education. We are passionate about caring for your trees. So if you wouldn’t take your beloved pet to a street vendor “vet”, then don’t trust your trees to someone claiming to be an Arborist who cannot provide certification information that is verifiable with the International Society of Arboriculture.
