ORNAMENTAL TREES

Ornamental trees are grown for the purpose of accent in a landscape.  They add significant value to the property especially if planted the right way.  They add texture, layering and color to your landscape.

A few examples of small ornamental trees that are native to our area of North Texas are:

  • Mexican Plum
  • Mexican Buckeye
  • Viburnum
  • Rough Leaf Dogwood
  • Eves Necklace
  • Red Bud

Then there are trees that are native to Texas but just slightly out of our geographic range:

  • Mountain Laurel
  • Texas Persimmon
  • Big Tooth Maple
  • Desert Willow
  • Dogwood
  • Tree of Senna

 Finally, the exotics such as:

  • Japanese Maple

Homeowners can successfully culture some or all of these in their landscapes as long as they have educated themselves with the knowledge of what is to be expected.
